The 56-year-old legendary star was excited about spending a couple of days in Mumbai.
In a thumbs-up to the Indian hospitality, he said "things are wonderful in India". "People (of India) are gorgeous. They are very warm and gracious. And they have especially been very generous to me. It feels like being at home. I am feeling very comfortable,"he said.
Travolta informed that his wife Kelly Preston couldn't come since she was pregnant.
"India is a welcoming country and that's why I brought some of my family along," he said.
The actor arrived in Mumbai on Saturday night in his private jet along with daughter Ella Bleu and sisters. "I brought my family along as everyone wants to come to India," he said.
Although he didn't get time to move around the city, Ella and his sisters apparently went sight-seeing on Sunday.
His maiden trip to India materialised for the launch of a new model of Breitling watches.
"You just wait for the special invitation or a special opportunity ( to visit India). And I feel that finally, I have this chance to be here and it's very exciting," the Pulp Fiction actor said.
Travolta is the latest Hollywood star to heap praises on India. Earlier, actress Julia Roberts had fallen in love with India after shooting her film Eat, Pay and Love here. She even claimed to have become a practising Hindu.
Other big names such as pop star Katy Perry, Jessica Simpson, Kylie Minogue, Lindsay Lohan and Goldie Hawn, too, have declared their love for India in the past.
Travolta said Bollywood's image in the world was crucial because it "has important filmmakers and very important contribution to the film world".
He has already said the Indian film industry "is so successful that they don't even need Hollywood; it is Hollywood that needs India, as it is a key market for us". The star said some time ago, Europeans brought in changes and contributed a lot to the American cinema. "I think now it is Bollywood's turn."
Travolta, however, denied the much-hyped reports about Askhay Kumar's jig with him to promote the former's forthcoming flick, Action Replayy .
On Sunday evening, he stole the show at GQ awards where he was given the Legend of the Year award. Other winners at the do included Aamir Khan, Arjun Rampal, Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah.
Aamir, in fact, sounded quite excited about meeting Travolta.
"I am a big fan of Travolta. I have seen a lot of his films. When I heard that he has come for this function, I made it a point to attend it. I'm also wearing a suit because of it," Aamir, who was dressed formally in a black suit and bow at the event, said.
Travolta reportedly flew to Russia on Monday.
